IDOL IS BACK IN NIGERIA

Multiple sources are confirming to us, that a Lagos-based production company, OMG, has secured the rights to stage the first-ever Nigerian Idol – and that auditions are even set to roll in a matter of weeks.

Since seeing the Idol teaser currently running on the World Cup programming, and a Facebook page requesting for fans for ‘Nigerian Idol’, we’ve been curious. And, we’ve been asking as many questions, as our readers have been asking us.

Now, we can confidently say that a big-budget talent show is about to run, as the Idol franchise comes to Nigeria again – three years after the controversial ‘West Africa Idol’ which produced Timi Dakolo and Omawumi.

Our sources, who do not want to be named, say Nigerian Idol will be sponsored by a Telecoms brand, and that the producers are right now finalizing details on auditions, presenters, judges and broadcast.

A rep for OMG (identified as Chichi) says the company has ‘no comments for now’. ‘But i can definitely tell you that we’re working on something big. And, yes, it has to do with some of the teasers you’ve been seeing on TV, Youtube and Facebook.

WHY DO GIRLS PREFER TALLER GUYS?

WHY DO GIRLS PREFER TALL GUYS

Word: Not all women prefer tall guys True/ False
Most women are attracted to physical looks and personality more than height. Sometimes it is just the individuals’ taste to be with a tall man. Many women have married men that are shorter than themselves. Tall men stand out more and also in some cases a woman could have had a bad relationship with a shorter guy and it can be a psychological trait choosing only tall men.

I am 27 and I have a problem with short guys and actually all the guys I have liked so far have been generally short s long as you’re mature in mind as opposed to looking and acting like a seventh grader guy who is cocky and arrogant , I fall for short, smart blonds. Most women want to feel protected sand safe and tall men seem to look more appealing because we find security with someone who can shield off enemies without us lifting a finger although I have a different opinion now as my boyfriend is 5ft 9” and I am 5ft 7” and I feel just as safe with him as someone taller. I like a lot of short cute guys but I would not date them. I am not trying to mean anything and I really wish it wasn’t an issue but I want a little taller guy so he can hold me. It is very much a feeling safe thing – you just collapse into them at the end of the day and know they can just hold you for a while, it’s a subconscious thing.

She also feels more feminine but once you get to know a guy, it’s obvious that there are things more important than his height. When it comes down to it, you don’t choose a mate based on height. It is one of those things you find attractive about each other and there’s no harm about it. Its all comes down to personal preference as for myself, I don’t discriminate I like men in all shapes and sizes. Tall, fat, short, thin, skinny, muscular whatever because all girls are shallow. Honestly, I don’t think all girls do, I do because I am a girl and I am 5ft 7” and I like to be around guys who are taller or a stall as me. Because the way it’s ‘supposed’ to go is the man who is tall, the protector and the girl is smaller than him etc.

I really only prefer tall guys because I feel like they don’t look at me like I’m a freak for being tall. I am over weight but because I am tall I am very self conscious about my size. So with taller guys, I feel like they don’t notice that I am strangely tall that is not to say I am only attracted to tall guys not in the slightest. It is just an added advantage if they are tall. I find tons of guys totally be willing to go out with a guy shorter than me.

It may sound pathetic and superficial and these guys don’t care I am taller. A guy could be 5ft 4”, 5ft 7”, 6ft as long as they find me attractive and my height won’t matter neither would their height and I know all of my pretty friends find short guys attractive all the time. Really height is not an issue with them if they feel attracted to the guy and the guy feels the same back. That’s what matters most………

HOW TO BECOME A CELEBRITY PERSONAL ASSISTANT

FIRST OF ALL

1. Choose a Type of Celebrity

Actors and rock stars are not the only ones who need personal assistants. You could decide to assist a professional athlete, politician, movie director, best-selling author, motivational speakers, model, millionaire… basically anyone with enough money can hire someone to be a personal assistant. It's probably best to work for someone in a field you're interested in, because the more you know, the more you have to offer. Potential employers will find you more appealing as a new hire.

2. Develop Your Skills

CPAs need to know a little bit about everything, and know where to find out more. Celebrities are currently looking for internet-savvy, technologically competent employees who can show them how to transfer information from their palm pilot to the computer, send an e-greeting to Mom, or keep track of their personal finances.

Many celebrities are also interested in your etiquette knowledge, household management skills, and party planning or gift buying ability. Above all, celebrities need to know that you will not reveal their intimate secrets to the tabloids, so make sure you practice the art of discretion as well.

3. Get Some Training

There is currently no formal long-term education program to become a personal assistant, but you can develop many of the necessary skills in related programs, such as computer courses, household management courses (for butlers and household managers) and event planning courses offered by community colleges.

4. Get Some Experience

One great way to learn the skills of being a celebrity personal assistant is to be a non-celebrity PA first. You may even discover that being a personal assistant to a non-celebrity is more your speed if you really enjoy organizing but don’t like the stress of the celebrity lifestyle.

5. Find a Job Opening

Networking is an important first step: let everyone know that you are a personal assistant who is looking for work. Think about all of the people you know, family and friends alike. In that vast network, is there anyone who is closer to a celebrity than you are? You can also meet celebrities through volunteering, working as a production assistant on a movie set, and job listings.

6. Contact a Celebrity

There are many books and web sites that list addresses and contact information for celebrities. Although you may not speak with the celebrities themselves, you can usually get in touch with their publicist, agent or even their current personal assistant. Even if they aren't looking for an assistant immediately, they may have an opening in the future or know someone who does.

7. Avoid Common Mistakes

It would be great if you could just strike up a conversation with someone like an agent and get an immediate referral to a celebrity. However, most people who are starting out don’t find it easy to say the right things off the top of their head. This is when having a script (or outline of what you want to say) can be a big help. To sound like a professional avoid disclosing too much personal information about yourself, sounding too eager, or mentioning that you are hoping to launch your own showbiz career. Instead, focus on the skills you have to offer the celebrity.

8. Join an Agency

Most CPAs agree that this is a great inroad into the industry. A few employment agencies that specialize in hiring employees for celebrities and other wealthy people. Once you’ve located an agency, send a brief email query asking who you should contact about becoming a CPA for one of their clients. Definitely post your CV/Resume in this site’s Staff Database (it’s free!)

9. Ace the Interview

"Assuming you have the skills and the temperament, it really comes down to a personality match." You will more than likely have to go through a number of interviews before you get to meet your celebrity. Don’t let it faze you; just be honest and direct with everyone you meet. And when you meet your celebrity? Don't gush. Concentrate on being professional and establishing an immediate rapport with them.

10. Join Professional Organizations

There are professional organizations that assist celebrity personal assistants with their career development. Once you start working as a CPA, you will be able to join these organizations and they will become an invaluable source of support and information.

LISTEN

When I ask you to listen to me,
And you start giving me advice,
You have not done what I asked.

When I ask that you listen to me,
And you begin to tell me why I shouldn't feel that way,
You are trampling on my feelings.

When I ask you to listen to me,
And you feel you have to do something to solve my problems,
You have failed me, strange as that may seem.

Listen.
All that I ask is that you listen,
Not talk or do - just hear me.

When you do something for me
That I need to do for myself,
You contribute to my fear and feelings of inadequacy.

But when you accept as a simple fact
That I do feel what I feel, no matter how irrational,
Then I can quit trying to convince you
And go about the business
Of understanding what's behind my feelings.

So, please listen and just hear me
And, if you want to talk,
Wait a minute for your turn - and I'll listen to you
