MO' CHEDDAH IS MTV'S AMBASSADOR IN AUGUST 2010

The name Modupe Oreoluwa may not readily ring a bell but Mo Chedda, may well sound a lot more familiar especially for those who have listened to ‘Da Finest' track from the stables of Knight House.
Mo Chedda is the latest female MC on a mission to rock the Naija rap scene. Although young and petite, a conversation with Modupe reveals a young lady who knows what she wants and where she is headed.

As a young girl growing up in Lagos, she had always known she wanted to do music. At 15 she was already rapping to Bow Wow's songs. She began professionally about six years ago, when a meeting with a family friend would set the pace for the Mo Chedda brand today.
She recalls: "When I was 12 I remember how I used to disturb a family friend of ours, Rogba, who today is one of the Knight House producers, that I wanted to sing. He would look at me and say ‘you really want to do this' and I would say ‘yes'. Since I am a Beyonce fanatic we would go to his house (since there wasn't any studio then) and do all the Beyonce adlibs as he would play me beats. I was just been trained and groomed and taught all the rudiments of music".

The 19 year old Creative Arts Undergraduate of UNILAG has collaborated with top artistes thanks to her bright music talent. Some of these artistes include; M.I, Sasha, Mode 9, eLDee, Skuki, Terry Tha Rapman and others.

The franchise celebrity biography, tour dates and links will have a dedicated page on the www.mtvbase.com website and mobisite.

Mo' Cheddah (Modupe Oreoluwa Oyeyemi) broke into the industry in 2009 when she sang the hook to the rap hit 'The Flyest'. Since then it has been no stopping the singer/rapper. Her single If You Want Me earned a lot of rotation on radio which eventually earned her a nomination in the HHWA 10 Next Rated Category.

MO' CHEDDAH IS MTV'S AMBASSADOR IN AUGUST

16-Year-Old Justin Bieber Drives Diddy's $200,000 Lamborghini

16-Year-Old Justin Bieber Drives Diddy's $200,000 Lamborghini

It seems P. Diddy wasn't kidding when he promised Justin Bieber he'd give him the keys to his Lamborghini when the teen pop star turned 16. On Tuesday, Bieber was spotted driving to get some frozen yogurt with his friend Sean Kingston in Diddy's white Gallardo Spyder. (It's not clear if Diddy gave it to Bieber for keeps or just for a spin.)

Bieber, who turned 16 on March 1 and passed the driving test soon after, laughed off Diddy's promise, telling People magazine in March, "[Diddy] said when I turn 16 he will give me his Lamborghini. But we all know Diddy's not going to give me his Lamborghini, he's all talk."

The white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (henceforth affectionately referred to as a "Bieberghini") retails for upwards of $210,000, according to Yahoo! Autos. Lamborghinis have become a sort of go-to luxury vehicle for famous people. Other celebrities who've been known to drive Lamborghinis include Soulja Boy, Kobe Bryant, Bam Margera, Benji Madden, David Beckham, and Wilmer Valderrama.

Bieber's fro-yo cohort, rapper Sean Kingston, has his own Lamborghini. In 2009, Kingston challenged Bow Wow to a race in their respective "Lambos." Bow Wow caused a bit of a stir in January when he tweeted about driving his Gallardo while "tipsy." He later apologized for the tweet, saying it wasn't a great way to kick off 2010.
Diddy's Lamborghini isn't even the first car Bieber has received as a gift: His mentor, Usher, gave him a Range Rover for his 16th birthday. Maybe Diddy is trying to show up the R&B singer with something flashier.

Their Lambo stroll wasn't the first time Kingston and Bieber have teamed up, of course -- nor the first time they appeared with a fancy car. Check out the wheels and the Bieber-Kingston duet in the video for "Eenie Meenie," a song the two performers co-wrote.

WANDE COAL DEBUNKS NUDE PICTURE

SOMEBODY IS AFTER WANDE COAL-MOHITS
It has come to our notice that a purported nude picture of Wande Coal is being circulated on social networking site, Twiiter and that made him a trending topic yesterday and early hours of today.
Wande is very grateful to those who have shown him love and as well to those who were constructive in their criticisms. He is saying a massive THANK YOU.
We also want to state categorically that there is nothing wrong or to be ashamed about being naked BUT THE PICTURES IN QUESTION ARE NOT THOSE OF WANDE COAL, the multiple Hip Hop World Award winner. That is not him and that can never be him.
It is worthy of note to let you know that the rising star has been a target of orchestrated attacks in past months. Few months ago false reports of him being treated in a psychiatric home were widely circulated even when he was busy performing in shows in Nigeria and around the world. Later, another report of him slapping a fellow in a club was initiated by some faceless people as well, a report which was false in its entirety. Last year it was also reported that he slapped 9ice during an argument, a report 9ice himself denied. Now, it is a false naked picture that is being used.
We have reason to believe that the person behind these nude pictures is the same person(s) behind earlier negative and false stories. Therefore, we are no longer taking the matter lightly. Appropriate security agencies have been briefed and investigations are on-going so as to ascertain true identity of the culprit and bring him or her to book.
Wande would also like to appeal to his numerous fans to keep calm and assure them that he won’t stop making good music, love them and keep right in all his doings.

NOTTINGHILL CARNIVAL

The World famous Nottinghill Carnival is set to hold again this year and this time around a group of organisations are hoping to stage a Nigerian corner and float in a grand way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence from British Colonial masters.
This year’s edition of the Nigerian corner is tagged ‘Getting close-up with our motherland’, and according to organisers Sodium Brand Solutions, “It will be a celebration of every good thing Nigeria has to offer”. Sodium is organising the Nigerian corner in conjuction with Primetime Entertainment and Reve Entertainment.
The Nottinghill carnival has continuously taken place since inception in 1965, and has been categorized as the second biggest in the world with two million tourists showing up annually. Every year there are more than 40,000 Nigerians in attendance.
“We are planning a Lagos type concert to celebrate Nigeria at 50 at the Notting hill carnival this year that will showcase Nigerian music and culture to the international world. ’’ Abisoye Fagade Principal Consultant at Sodium Brand Solution disclosed tells NET. ‘It is more remarkable because it is our 50th independence anniversary, and England, where the carnival holds, gave us that independence in 1960′
One of the highlights of this year’s event is the “Nigeria@50 dinner party” expected to celebrate the achievements of outstanding Nigerians in the UK (including Nigerian born international designer Alexander Amosu, musicians like the legendary Tunde Bayewu of the Light house family and Sade Adu, clothier Ade Bakare and talented Nigerian British artist Yinka Shonibare who wowed the world recently when he unveiled his work of art- Nelson’s ship at the Trafalgar square in London.)
In line with Nigeria’s  tradition at the carnival, this year’s event will feature top Nollywood stars and dozens of Nigerian musicians who will serenade the guests will 100 percent home-made music.
Last year’s edition featured the likes of DJ Jimmy JATT, El Dee The Don, Gbenga Adeyinka, Ayo Animashaun, Kenny Ogungbe, Dayo Adeneye, Ayo Shonaiya, Steel, DJ Abass and several others on Adela Street off Kensal road end.
After years of gathering under the auspices of Obalende Suya and R70, an unresolved controversy saw Police cordon off the regular meeting point for Nigerians; so in 2007, there was no meeting point for Nigerian revellers. But it wasn’t for long. Two years later, in 2009, Sodium and Reve got the rights to stage the official  Nigerian corner; in partnership with Primetime Entertainment, Hip TV and others…
‘We plan to keep the flag flying. And we’ll continue on August 31 this year’ Oyedeji says.
Nottinghill carnival is an Afro-Caribbean festival that is held annually in the city of London. This year’s Nigerian corner is organised by Reve Entertainment, Primetime Entertainment and Sodium Brand Solution, and Supported by NET, Kennis TV, BlackHouse Media, Digiprints and Hip TV.

GT THE GUITARMAN LEAVES STORM RECORDS

Its no longer news that  GT The Guitarman is leaving his record label Storm Records.
The gifted but under-celebrated songwriter-singer, who waited for years, before finally releasing his only album for the label, has confided in very close friends he’s moving on from Obi Asika-led Storm.
The Guitarman was one of the last set of acts on Storm 360. In the past three years, prized talents like Darey, Jazzman Olofin, Eldee and  Ikechukwu have quit dealings with the label. However, beloved rapper Naeto C is still signed to the label, as well as Sasha, Tosin Martins and Sauce Kid. All four remaining acts have brand new albums on the way.
Although inside sources at Storm say GT ‘has quit for real’ this time, this is not the first time the young talent will be trying to severe ties with the label. In 2008, when it looked like his album would never drop, he gave TV and print interviews, accusing the label of footdragging, and saying he was walking away.
‘He really liked it at the label, and Obi really loves him. But, let’s face it, he’s spent so much time there and seen so little results. I think it just got to a point when he started asking himself: ‘what am i doing here?” one of his confidants told us early today.
It is believed he still has a valid recording contract with the label; having renewed his deal with them shortly before he released his debut album. And it is uncertain if he’s accusing the label of specific breaches, or simply walking away as is common with most Nigerian acts.
The singer was yet to respond to NET enquiries as at press time. But those close to him say he is still unsure of what his immediate moves would be.
However, Storm boss Asika insists GT is still with the label. Responding to NET’s email enquiry, he queried : ‘And where did you get that reliable information from?’
Continuing, Asika says ‘GT is fully on Storm Records, please contact Uche and she can put you in touch with him direct. Would love to know where that reliable information is coming from’.
Uche (Ikejimba) was yet to respond to our enquiries as at 7PM Wednesday. GT would also not comment, despite repeated phone calls to his mobile line…

BIG BROTHER AFRICA IS BACK.

With just a week to go before a sensational new Big Brother Africa hits African television screens, speculation about the new show is growing fast as eager fans across the continent gear up for the highly anticipated July 18th launch.

M-Net made a dramatic announcement confirming that the show is set to be a fully fledged All Stars version, featuring some of the most unforgettable, outspoken, entertaining housemates of previous editions! But just who are they? That is still a secret that remains to be seen!

Big Brother All Stars will see 14 housemates from 14 African countries come together to compete 24/7 for 91 days in the search for the ultimate winner prize – USD 200 000, watched by audiences on DStv channel 198.

All Stars Revealed!

Biola Alabi, M-Net Africa Managing Director, was pleased to make the news public.

“We want to thank fans of the show for being so patient with us. We’re completely excited about this show and have wanted to announce the full name of the series for some time but given the logistics required on a show like this, we’ve waited until today to announce the full title of the series: Big Brother All Stars.

She goes on to say, “All the housemates, both those included in the new show and those who are not on this series, are the true stars of the Big Brother Africa story and we want to celebrate them in all their glory. What better way than to bring back some of the fans’ favourite characters for a second chance at the big prize. So join them on July 18th as they set off on a whole new adventure.”

With the stakes now raised, Big Brother All Stars means that this season will be more strategic than ever before…with all the housemates having played the game previously, they each come into the new season equipped with more insight and knowledge into the world of alliances, conspiracy and tactics. What will happen? Who will survive? And how will they play? Only time will tell so stay tuned!

Dual View

Meanwhile audiences will get twice as many Big Brother All Stars viewing options this year. DStv channel 198 will provide a second viewing feed to audiences, allowing them a choice of which feed they want to watch. This will be in addition to the usual news and information about the show and its housemates that audiences will get when they press the OK button on their DStv remote control.

Plus for more news, video highlights and extras on Big Brother All Stars, go to our video gallery and connect with other fans on Facebook and Twitter. And remember to tune in on July 18 on DStv channel 198 for Big Brother All Stars!

And for fans counting down the big day and the production company Endemol hard at work on the new series, M-Net has confirmed that next week it will offer the first look at the new house when it releases sneak peek images; as well as a reveal of the superstar artist lined up for the opening show….so get ready…Big Brother is back!

Big Brother Scores!

With soccer fever sweeping the continent, DStv has scored its own blockbuster goal…revealing that M-Net will kick-off a sensational new season of Africa’s biggest reality show in just under a month.

The 5TH edition of M-Net’s BIG BROTHER AFRICA will launch just days after the newest World Cup Champions are crowned, and with the golden prize of USD 200 000 once again up for grabs, a breathtaking new game will be well and truly on!

And this time, Big Brother fans in over 40 countries across the continent are going to get a show that’s more edgy, more tactically challenging and more intensely strategic than ever before.

So says M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi who was delighted to make the news official.

What a Great Moment

“What a great moment this is – to bring back a show that our audience loves for an incredible 5th time. We wanted season 4 (Big Brother Revolution) to be special but it exceeded our hopes. With the volume of interaction the show received from fans, it was clear that season 5 was definitely on the cards.
So we’ve been developing what we believe will be thrilling new format changes.”

Save the Date!

Now, with the news out in the open, M-Net has confirmed that the latest BIG BROTHER AFRICA will begin on July 18, and will be screened live 24/7 for 91 days on DStv Channel 198 for DStv Premium and Compact subscribers.

And breaking with tradition, M-Net has announced it won’t be calling for entries for the new show. The company has revealed that having run the series 4 times previously, they’re now head-hunting contestants from a database of previous entries submitted for the show.

“We want to invest more broadly in season 5 and having already been introduced to a world of interesting characters from previous searches, there’s limited value in spending extensively in another search for contestants,” says Alabi.

She goes on to say, “We’ll still be looking for entertaining persons with a sense of humour, a love of adventure and the ability to enjoy the very exciting Big Brother experience. In the past we’ve spent widely to find contestants in 14 countries. This year, we’re using these funds to develop a gutsy new series, recreating the house in a very different way and focusing on putting new technology into place.”

Technology

One technological change already in place is that this year DStv channel 198 will feature two television feeds so audiences can choose to move from one BIG BROTHER feed to another. At any one time there will be two streams of video and audio coming out of the house and audiences can simply pick the one that they wish to watch.

And with the rules governing conspiracy and alliance about to be given a radical new perspective, audiences will definitely want to follow the action closely!

IK is Back

More good news from BIG BROTHER AFRICA is that charming Nigerian television and radio star I.K. Osakioduwa, whose easy humor and professional style are well known, will return to the BIG BROTHER stage for a second time. The star, whose credits include Comedy Club and Studio 53, is a familiar face to DStv viewers and a longtime fan of the Big Brother series.

Asked why he thinks audiences relate so well to BIG BROTHER AFRICA, I.K. says, “It’s all reality. That’s what makes it so interesting. People like to see the way that other people handle real life situations. And Big Brother always does his part to keep the activities and surprises in the house fresh.”

Meanwhile this year contestants will once again be drawn from 14 countries – Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. BIG BROTHER AFRICA season five will be produced by Endemol and filmed on location in Johannesburg. This year, the house will feature 53 cameras and 100 microphones ensuring that, as always, Big Brother is always watching!

See Yourself On TV

And season five will maintain some of the key characteristics that makes BIG BROTHER AFRICA so popular - the ability for audiences to send their text and web messages direct to DStv channel 198 and see their thoughts and opinions on air. PLUS there’s the fact that ultimate power of who is evicted from the house and who remains is firmly in the hands of the voting public!

In addition, by simply pressing the OK button on your DStv remote you can get updated on news and information from the Big Brother house in a matter of minutes and if you are an ardent fan, the website www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother is being designed just for you – with updates on the show as it happens, a live forum to chat with other fans, video downloads and much more.

Plus there will be daily edited highlights show on M-Net every weekday in case you’ve missed any of the action.

And as Alabi says, “You don’t want to miss any of the action this season because at the heart of it all is a change beyond revolution, a secret so explosive…it is set to be the most dramatic Big Brother Africa ever seen!”

MTN PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA SEASON 3 IS HERE

From July 12, the nation's most popular music talent competition will hit the airwaves again for the third season. Highlights of the auditions and finals will begin airing from this day while the opening gala night show will be aired on Sunday July 18.
The organizers bent to let the public know that, far from being just another talent competition, Project Fame provides the rare opportunity for talented men and women who aspire to become music superstars.
Project Fame West Africa made its debut in 2008 and has shown that it possesses the essential elements to transform raw talents into finished and polished music entities.

"The track record speaks for itself. last year Iyanya got busy performing all over the world eventually releasing his debut album "My story" in December. Season 2 winner. Mike has released three hot singles - the most popular being "Fine Fine Lady" featuring rapper, Ill Bliss which and it is doing very well, both radio and TV.
"Judging from how their careers have both risen since winning Project Fame, we think it's safe to say Project Fame has established itself as a leading academy which grooms Nigeria's best musical talents" says Ultima Boss Femi Ayeni.

It is not only the winners of Project Fame that can boast of having bright and brilliant careers. Nii Akrah from Ghana who was the 1st runner up during the first season of Project Fame is the voice behind the West African hit single "Monife" and she's set to drop her debut album later in the month.
Tomiwa Songonuga, the 2nd runner- up during last year's edition has released his single "Iyawo Mi" which is fast getting demands at many wedding functions.

"The reason behind the many success stories associated with Project Fame is the intense training, detailed and comprehensive tutelage they receive when they are in the Performance Academy" Ayeni says.
The Performance Academy is where all the chosen 15 finalists will enter on the opening gala night. They shall be further groomed by top music professionals from different parts of the industry. The professionals will teach them how to sing, perform, play musical instruments and write their own songs, which is the tradition of the project organizers.
