Longtime
New York Times theater critic Mel Gussow penned the lovely obituray to the late Elizabeth Taylor that appeared in today's edition of the
Times. Unfortunately no one can tell him that, because Gussow himself passed away six years ago. We're not sure what's sadder, that the newspaper planned so far ahead for her death, or that no one else on staff felt knowledgeable enough to write about her. Of course, we naturally assume the author of Gussow's obit has been dead since 1999.
