ADEFEMI OLUBAYO's BODY ARRIVES TODAY


The remains of Super Eagles’ defender Olubayo Adefemi would be flown into the country tonight. It would arrive aboard Alitalia Airline flight from Rome at about 8pm.

Family members of the deceased and top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation are among persons expected to receive the body, which would then be taken to a morgue in Yaba, Lagos.

It has been confirmed that the player’s corpse would lie-in-state at the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere on Thursday morning before it is committed to mother earth at the Atan Cemetery, Yaba hours later.
Olubayo Adefemi, who won a FIFA U-20 World Cup silver in 2005 and an Olympic silver in Beijing three years later, and was also in the squad that qualified Nigeria for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, died on Monday after the car he was driving hit the dividing rail on the highway and crashed onto the other side of the road in Greece, where he was playing professional football with top League side, Skoda Xanthi.
