Ivie Okujaye leads the way at the premiere of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO 5) movie “Alero’s Symphony”

The AMBO 5 winner, Ivie Okujaye, is a 24-year old graduate of Economics from the University of Abuja. She won the fifth and last edition of the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) in 2009. Ivie loves singing, dancing, script writing, playing basketball and football and nurtures the ambition of becoming a successful actress in Nollywood.


The new Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) movie shot on location in Lagos premiered this weekend in Lagos. Ivie Okujaye, the winner of the last edition of the Amstel Malta Box Office reality TV show and music star Faze played the lead roles in the movie.


The movie titled “Alero’s Symphony” was premiered at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas of The Palms Shopping Mall in Lagos. The movie is set in contemporary Lagos and combines a dramatic love story intertwined with the pulsating beats of the Nigerian hip-hop genre.

ABOUT THE MOVIE 'ALERO SYMPHONY'

Alero, the twin daughter of an affluent family, is a top law student who is expected to graduate with honors and thereafter join her father’s prestigious law chambers. However her passion and heart is really set on being a singer, a desire she carefully hides from her parents. During an Easter vacation break, Alero comes across a lowly waiter/fisherman named Lovechild who also happens to be a talented musician.


Though from different sides of the divide in terms of class, education and social status, Alero and Lovechild found their common love for singing – a bond that bound them professionally at first and then romantically.
She finally confessed to her father that, she has strong desires to pursue a career as a singer rather than as a lawyer. An indignant Dr. Coker gave his daughter an ultimatum; dump Lovechild, her music ambition and focus on her legal career or risk his wrath. She decided, albeit reluctantly and for the sake of peace, to follow her father’s orders. But, can Alero succeed in forsaking the cravings of her heart?

The new movie is novel- the first movie of its kind in Nigeria. A preview of the film reveals an excellent production based on a well-written script and superb performances by the best from
Nollywood.
The Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries, Jacco Van Der Linden said the movie is a must watch and is testimonial to the horde of talents there are in the country. His words: “I have no doubt that this movie is a welcome development in Nollywood. It was directed and produced by the best in the industry and has proven to be a good platform to introduce new talents into Nollywood”.
The first edition of AMBO took place in 2005 where Azizat Sadiq emerged winner and earned herself the lead role for “Sitanda” an epic masterpiece which won 5 awards at the 2007 African Movie Academy Awards.

AMBO, took place again in 2006 where OC Ukeje emerged winner and took up the lead male role in the movie “White Waters” where he acted alongside A list Nollywood actors such as Rita Dominic and Joke Silva. “White Waters” bagged 4 awards at the 2008 African Movie Academy Awards winning OC Ukeje the best upcoming actor for that year.
“Cindy’s Note”, the third movie from the AMBO platform, featured the winner of that year’s edition Bhaira McWizu as the lead act. The movie plot is built around the National Youth Service Corps and their impact on the society. It debuted in November 2008 with great reviews. Bhaira is already filming her next Nollywood project.

The fourth edition of this Amstel Malta sponsorship platform The Child is an epic masterpiece that featured that year’s winner Adewale Ojo as the lead male act where he played the role of a crowned prince. The movie was which nominated for 9 AMAA awards in 2010 and won 2 out of the 9 nominations is a true depiction of the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria. The movie won awards for Achievement in Editing and Achievement in Make up.

This movie premiere is the last phase of the AMBO sponsorship platform for the brand. This platform not only offered an opportunity for the target audience of Amstel Malta – the discerning Nigerian youth with a preference for the brand’s unique low sugar formulation – to experience the brand but also to showcase and exploit their acting talents”
