Chinua Achebe Rejects GEJ "National Honour" and President Goodluck Jonathan Replies

"The reasons for rejecting the offer when it was first made have not been addressed let alone solved. It is inappropriate to offer it again to me. I must therefore regretfully decline the offer again". ~Prof. Chinua Achebe.

Here is President Goodluck Jonathan's Reply:
President Goodluck Jonathan hinted that Prof Chinua Achebe is ignorant of the present Nigerian situation and must have been misinformed about the current efforts he [GEJ] is making to transform the country. The GEJ administration made a release in response to the decision of the US based Nigeria literary giant, Prof. Achebe to once again, reject the conferment on him of the national honour of the CFR.

Achebe had last week rejected the award saying conditions which made him reject the award seven years ago are still prevalent across the country.
