Let’s ‘Play’ Ibiyemi and Sound Sultan in ‘True Colour’

Vocal powerhouse, Ibiyemi, proudly presents True Colour, her newest release featuring the "Naija Ninja" Sound Sultan.

True Colour, inspired by a conversation between both artistes, is an ideal fusion of Ibiyemi’s unmatched vocal ability and Sound Sultan’s undisputed street credibility. “Just like Sound Sultan,” she explains, “I’m very passionate about society and about music as a tool for change, so I thought it was time to make a song reflecting this.” The song, which premiered on Friday, Feb 17, 2012 on three different radio stations in Lagos - The Beat 99.9 FM, Rhythm 93.7 FM, and Inspiration 90.9 FM, was written by both artistes and talks
about being true to oneself — with an undertone of social consciousness, coming just in time as it follows the recent strikes and civil protests experienced across the country.

To further whet the appetite of her fans, Ibiyemi is also releasing PLAY; the feel-good jam with an acid jazz groove reminiscent of ‘Jamiroquai’, but tinged with just the right dose of local content. Anticipation for the song, which is also the fourth single off her debut album ‘Love Always Wins’, grew as pictures from the set of its video shoot were released earlier. The video shot by IGHO Productions hits the screens in coming weeks.

Ibiyemi, who is presently under the management of Aboriginal Music, is famous for a body of work characterised by emotionally-resonant lyrics exploring the various dimensions of love, but takes a different route with these present offerings
