To further support the organization's drive to reduce the number of people without limbs to its barest minimum, a cheque of N250, 000 (two hundred and fifty thousand naira) was presented to Shuga Limb Foundation by the Association's Governing Council.

The cheque was presented by the amiable wife of the Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mrs. Julia West; the President of the Shuga Limb Foundation, Mr. Akin Tofowomo was on hand to receive the cheque.

Shuga Limb Foundation (SLF) is a Nigerian based NGO committed to empowering those who are physically challenged and less privileged.

The foundation is an official Operating Partner with affiliates in the United States of America and India, SLF builds upon the capacity of foreign partnerships to provide services for those in need of help.

Founded in 2009, the objectives of the foundation are to provide calibers and prosthesis to individuals with limb defects, rehabilitate and empower beneficiaries that would help them through the process and help teach a trade or two that will empower them for tomorrow. SLF also monitors the progress of beneficiary amputees especially in cases of young beneficiaries. By the 29

th of November, 2009 the foundation had implemented several surgeries.

Mrs. Juliet West spoke on the need to support charitable causes like this, she said ''the association has promised to always reach out to the SLF and support the foundation in whatever capacity''.

In his response, Akin Tofowomo was in high spirit when he said '' There are so many Akin Shuga on the street who do not have the privilege that I have, let's reach out to them, by providing a walking aid. We are very grateful to the governing council of the association for coming out to support and identify with us at a time like this. As you all know, this is not about Akin Tofowomo or Shuga Band, it is about my friends out there who have no limbs to aid their movement''.
