Young Entertainers and Music Awards (YEM Awards) comes to town

Young Entertainers and Music Awards, an award which is set out to celebrate the upcoming musicians and young entertainers in the Nigerian entertainment industry comes to town. PayBack Inc media, the organizers of the award at a press conference in Lagos revealed the award categories, judges and ambassadors for the awards.

 

The award which has a total of 32 categories is divided into two main groups; the general category, which is for the entertainers while the second, upcoming category, is for the upcoming musicians.

Among the ambassadors for the award is ace music producer, k-solo, radio presenter Kore Brown, broadcaster and musician Zdon Paporella, and Africa’s finest D.j, D.j jimmy Jatt (who could not make the media briefing due to other pressing matters). The judges for the awards include Fola Folayan a presenter with NaijaInfo, D.j Charles colee and D.j switch.

“The idea of young entertainers and music awards came when I noticed the number of upcoming artistes in the Nigerian music industry who although, have not yet break into the market, but are doing pretty good. Then I asked myself, what if these artiste and young entertainers are encouraged, celebrated, will it not help further their musical and entertainment career? So I came up with Young Entertainers and Music Awards.

 YEM AWARDS is focused on youths that have been impressive in the Nigerian entertainment industry. The Young Entertainers and Music award is set out to celebrate, promote and encourage the upcoming musicians and entertainers in the ever growing Nigerian entertainment industry. The awards also aim at creating an avenue where the upcoming and the established artistes/entertainers can come together.

This is our own quota we intend to contribute to the career of the upcoming artistes and entertainers as well as the Nigerian entertainment industry at large and we hope Nigerians will accept our idea and join us to not only to appreciate, encourage and celebrate the young entertainers and upcoming artiste. We also believe that since the future of Nigeria is in the hands of the youth, it is therefore important to start recognizing the Nigerian youths who are doing it big in the music and entertainment industry”  those are the words of  Olakunle Oseni, founder of PayBack Inc media.

1.         ARTISTE OF THE YEAR (Male)

Most critical and commercial upcoming male artiste in the year under review. Overall most successful upcoming artiste for the year under review. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

2.         ARTISTE OF THE YEAR (Female)

Most critical and commercial upcoming female artiste in the year under review. Overall most successful upcoming artiste for the year under review. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

3.         SONG OF THE YEAR

Most popular song of an upcoming artiste from his/her album/promo CDs in the year under review. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

4.         PRODUCER OF THE YEAR

The upcoming producer responsible for producing the most acclaimed songs/album in the year under review (could be known/upcoming artiste). This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

5.         BEST MUSIC VIDEO (AWARD GOES TO THE DIRECTOR)

Best conceptualized, best edited, best picture, best directed and most exciting video in the year under review. This award goes to director of a music video for an upcoming artiste. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

6.         BEST R ‘N’ B SINGLE (Male)

Best R&B single by upcoming male artiste in the year under review (by single individual or group). This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

7.         BEST R ‘N’ B SINGLE (Female)

Best R&B single by upcoming female artiste in the year under review (by single individual or group). This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

8.         BEST POP SINGLE (Male / Female)

Best pop single by upcoming artiste in the year under review (by single individual or group). This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

9.         BEST RAP SINGLE (Male)

Best Rap single by upcoming male artiste released on-air. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

10.       BEST RAP SINGLE (Female)

Best Rap single by upcoming female artiste released on-air. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

11.       BEST COLLABO (Male / Female)

Best R&B, Pop or hip hop collaborative track by upcoming artiste (features known acts or new acts). This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

12.       BEST COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)

This is an award for the upcoming fast rising comedian in the year under review. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury. (MC Kabal

13.       PROMISING ACT OF THE YEAR.

This is an award for best upcoming artiste to look out for in the nearest future.

 

GENERAL CATEGORY:

 

This category is to recognize the hard work of Nigerians that has contributed to the growth of the entertainment industry. Also, to recognize some of our top artistes that has impressed with their music and lyrics.

 

1.         BEST YOUTH MAGAZINE OF THE YEAR

This category is to recognize the magazine that has been of great support to the youth in one way or the other. This category would be decided by voting.

2.         BEST MEDIA PROMOTER OF THE YEAR.

This category is for websites /blogs that promote event, music and latest gist in the entertainment industry. This category would be decided by voting.

3.         BEST BLOGGER OF THE YEAR.

This category is for youth blogger that has been able to reach out to the mass and has latest gist/gossips on its blog.

4.         BEST ADVERT OF THE YEAR.

The most exciting and educating advert on TV that draws the attention of youth the most. It could be any advert of any kind, the most important thing is getting the message it brings.

5.         ONLINE MUSIC CHANNEL OF THE YEAR.

This is an award for the best brand that updates new songs on it website and also supports the youth movement.

6.         ON-AIR MUSIC CHANNEL OF THE YEAR.

This is an award for the TV program which promotes Nigerian music on it.

7.         TV STATION OF THE YEAR.

This is an award of recognition for television station with more youth programs and entertainment programs on it station and also support youth movement.

8.         RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR

This is an award of recognition for radio station with more youth and entertainment programs on its station and also supports youth movement.

9.         STREET ANTHEM OF THE YEAR.

This category is for general artiste with the most popular song; with lyrics that are always stick to the lips (that even a kid can sing) by known or upcoming artistes in the year under review. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

10.       BEST COLLABO OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)

This category is to recognize the best collaboration that consists of at least 3 or more top artistes in the industry. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

This is a category for Radio DJ that has been impressive and also has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes. This category would be decided by voting.

This is an award of recognition to an individual which the youth can look up to; it could be in the music, movie or entertainment industry in general.        

14.       BEST MUSIC INTRO OF THE YEAR.

This category is open to all artistes, the best intro of a music track which thrills the listeners. This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.  

15.       RADIO PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Male)

This is a category for male radio personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes. This category would be decided by voting.

16.       RADIO PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Female)

This is a category for female radio personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes. This category would be decided by voting.

17.       TV PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Male)

This is a category for male TV personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes. This category would be decided by voting.

This category is for best hang out spot by youths where most club parties or related parties are been held, it could be hall, club or bar. This category would be decided by voting.
