African born rap artist Dampte last night opened the official MTV EMA week kicking off the events leading up to the MTV EMA award ceremonies on November 6th , 2011  Performing with Dampte was Cold Juice (CJ). Both artists are signed to Bugatti Music Group. The event was held at the Oh Yeah Music Centre in with a live audience.

Dampte has also been listed to perform at the MTV EMA party on November 4th 2011 at Scratch Night Club and the MTV EMA after-party at the Box (Belfast) Odyssey arena, venue of the Awards Ceremony, hosted by Tim Westwood, the UK’s most sought after DJ/Presenter.

 After extensively touring as a member of the award winning contemporary gospel collective GK REAL, Lánre British singer/songwriter of Nigerian heritage embarks on her own personal musical journey with her acoustic guitar.
 

Lánre has spent the past eighteen months playing her songs in cafés, bars and various charity events all over London. She was one of the eleven UK singers and songwriters selected to be part of the Prezzo live tour; performing at various UK restaurants of the Italian chain. Her music can be best described as acoustic soul with influences from her Nigerian heritage of storytelling and folk music along with her background in gospel music.

Lánre has taken her Singing for Change acoustic tour to various venues and events like the Greenbelt Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival on the Royal Mile and Toronto Canada.

Oni takes a bow out as GLO Naija Sings draws to a close

It was another dramatic eviction on Sunday 30th October, Oni was eliminated, leaving just four contestants standing for the Glo Naija Sings ultimate prize.

Following last week's Afrobeat performances, the votes resulted in Christian and Mattade being sent to the safe seats, closely followed by Tee Songz.

This left the only two girls left in the competition, Vicky and Oni, on stage. Unfortunately for Oni, her time on Glo Naija Sings came to an end and she reverted to being a member of the studio audience. Kamar and Joe bow out of MTN Project Fame Season 4

The season of Project Fame Season recorded its first eviction as the Kaduna fine boy Kamar and Joe became the first evictees of the show. Performance of the night kicked off with contestants on probation in the previous week where the contestants performed the song that put them on probation.

Aziga, Kamar, Joe, Zaliha, Emmanuel and Ethel emerged victims of probation and also in a singing battle to leave escape eviction. They all stepped on stage to re perform the songs that put them on probation. First to perform for the night was Aziga has he performed Marvin Gaye's 'Let's get it on'. His performance for the night was a lot better and the faculty worked on him to bring the best out of him.

After successfully kicking off the campaign to commemorate the 25^th World Breast Cancer awareness month with the ‘Pink Kitchen’ initiative, PINK Pearl Foundation continued its activities with the Pink Ride; an initiative that involved riding bicycles between two states in just two days, 18^th and 19^th October.

Pink Ride involved members of the Lifestyle Cycling Club, bringing together over sixty cyclers drawn from all over the country to ride from Asaba in Delta State to Benin City in Edo State. They rode through Isele-Uku and Umunede to Benin and from Benin through Oghara and Sapele to Warri.

The 2011 nominees list for the Nigeria Music Video Awards NMVA, Nigeria’s first music video awards is finally out. Topping the list this year is Darey and J’odie with four nominations each and followed closely by Goldie and Freestyle with three nominations. Other great contenders are Omawumi, Sammie Okposo, Dipp, T.I.V and Tipsy who all have two nominations .

For the first time since its inception, NMVA has included Best Southern Africa Video and Best Western Africa Video as new categories in this year’s award.

Something Unusual: Nodash wins Best Editing prize at IN Short Film Festival

Director, Cinematographer, Editor and Writer Kunle 'Nodash' Adejuyigbe has been crowned the best Editor for 2011 at the recently concluded IN Short International Film festival in Lagos, done in collaboration with Goethe Institute.

He emerged winner at the Best Editing category for the movie THE YOUNG SMOKER directed by MNET's Tinsel director - Tope Oshin Ogun (who also won the audience choice award), written by Tinsel creator -Yinka Ogun, Nodash shot and edited the short movie.

UNAIDS will use crowdsourcing technologies and social media platforms to engage young people in developing AIDS policy.

GENEVA, 25 October 2011—The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) is launching CrowdOutAIDS.org, an online collaborative project to crowdsource its new strategy on youth and HIV—a first in the UN system.

Crowdsourcing is a technique used to rapidly engage large numbers of interested people to develop strategies, solve problems or propose relevant and fresh ideas. With around 3000 young people aged 15-24 becoming infected with HIV daily, leveraging new modes of communication and online collaboration with young people is essential for an effective response to HIV.

The Headies 2011 formerly known as HipHopWorld award  has come and gone but the memories will still linger on in the minds of many and this year edition was different and it was a break from the norm  The event was hosted by Nollywood Diva Rita Dominic and Ace producer, songwriter and rapper Lanre Dabiri aka Eldee the Don. The event took place at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday 22nd  October, 2011 in Lagos, Nigeria. 

Nigerian Music stars performed and rocked at the 2011 edition of The Headies. Great Performances from Waje and Muna (So Inspired) , MI ( African Rapper Number one), Omawumi (If you ask me) with special appearance by Ace Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka and Tomi of Tinsel, Sound Sultan Ninja Ninja
