Next Movie Star Final Audition holds this weekend in Lagos

This weekend, the final auditions for this year’s Next Movie Star Nigeria reality show will hold in Lagos. This 2011 edition has been themed ‘Galaxy of Stars’. 16 housemates will be picked from the regional finalists to participate in the 30-day show and they will be screened by a panel.

“Our goal for 2011 and future editions is to expand and regionalise The Next Movie Star show and spread its reach all over Africa, selecting housemates from all the different regions of Africa and broadcasting to all these countries,” Sola Fajobi, who is the show’s executive producer said.

Mr. Fajobi also said that the Next Movie Star West Africa holding this quarter will include housemates from Nigeria, The Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia. The East Africa edition will have contestants from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia.

It began with thousands of contestants taking part in rigorous regional auditions across the country, and subsequently the winners that emerged from these auditions were whittled down to fifteen at the “boot camp”, later, only 10 families made it to the MDA Academy and the last 5 families standing, after overcoming all the odds, are set to take part at the grand finale of the ongoing favorite and highly entertaining family reality show, Maltina Dance All season 5.

 The grand finale which is taking place live on the 24th of September 2011, at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island Lagos, will see the families of  Dare, Ngwu, Utogo, Ekubo and Owolabi  battle to win the #5million cash prize and a family SUV which are at stake

The road to the grand finale for the 5 families was one characterized by challenges. Their determination, passion and unity as a family were put to the test but still, they scaled through exhibiting a never-say-die attitude.

It will be recalled that after the first eviction show which saw the eviction of the Chidi and Anibogu families, followed by that of the Efe and Adekpe families, the atmosphere at the MDA Academy was tense. Only 5 families could take part at the grand finale.

Mrs Folorunsho Alakija celebrated her 60th birthday on July 16th, 2011 and she and her husband, Modupe Alakija marked their 35th wedding anniversary.  She wrote and published two books and both books were officially launched on the 13th of July 2011 at the Civic Centre in Lagos. The books are an autobiography and a relationship guide titled “University of Marriage.  Mrs Folurunsho Alakija founded her couture label, Supreme Stitches, for over 15 years, the label creatively explored the use of local fabrics including aso-oke and ankara alongside foreign fabrics – chiffon, taffeta and silk. She also served as the  President of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN) for over six years, she worked tirelessly to educate and encourage the new generation of Nigerian fashion designers. She is also the CEO and Founder of a Non Governmental Organization Rose of Sharon Foundation, she has changed the lives of numerous widows and orphans through their various charity initiatives, scholarships and empowerment programmes.  The ongoing Maltina Dance All (MDA) family reality TV show so far, has witnessed different twists, turns, fun and lot of excitement for the whole family since it hit television screens across the country on September 4. Since the MDA began five years ago, no edition has been able to match the thrills and frills so far experienced at this year’s edition. The ambivalence and uncertainty in the MDA Academy has added in no small measure to the drama and excitement presently unfolding in the academy as the families’ battle their way into millions.

After the eviction of the Anibogu and Chidi families from the Academy, life soon returned to normalcy at least for the time being. The Eight remaining families; Ekubo, Efe, Edoho, Owolabi, Utogo, Ngwu, Dare and Adekpe went back to their routine. Bimbo Obafunwa, Dance Director took them through the “Art of Choreography” class where the families were introduced to their next dance style, Pantomime, by pantomime instructor, Paolos Sisiano. He described Pantomime as “a dance that has to do with a lot of gesticulations, body movement and facial expression”

 

OFF THE PRODUCER EP: K16 - Wetin You Dey Talk

Veteran Rapper, K16 is back with his first new record in over a year. This new record is titled 'Wetin You Dey Talk' which is off his Killer16bars: The Producer EP, which as the title suggests, will showcase his skills as a producer. "wetin you dey talk' is produced by k16 for Ara-na-agbam Productions and there's a remix. His debut album as a rapper would be released in APril, 2012.

k16 is a veteran in every word of it, he was a part of the trio who released "Which One You Dey” in 1991. They were called 'Emphasis' — a trio composed of rappers Terry and Mouth MC and singer Junior. They represented homegrown Nigerian hip-hop finally finding its own voice.
