Singer Bruno Mars facing cocaine charge in Vegas.
LAS VEGAS – Bruno Mars, singer of the hit R&B song "Just the Way You Are," faces a felony cocaine charge stemming from his arrest after a performance at a Las Vegas nightclub last month.
The Clark County district attorney's office filed a criminal complaint Friday alleging the rising singer-songwriter had 2.6 grams of cocaine when he was arrested Sept. 19 after being detained by a hotel security guard.
Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, is due in court Nov. 18 on the possession of a controlled substance charge. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
"Just the Way You Are" is No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Hernandez, 24, was in Las Vegas for a performance at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Wasted Space nightclub.
After the show, a bathroom attendant told police Hernandez was taking a long time in a stall with a bag of a white, powdered substance, according to the arrest report. The attendant alerted a security guard, who confronted Hernandez as he left the stall. The security guard said he asked Hernandez to hand over any narcotics he had, and Hernandez removed a bag of cocaine from his left-front jeans pocket, the arrest report said.
Hernandez was taken to a holding cell, where he was questioned by an arresting officer. When asked what was going on, Hernandez replied: "Can I speak to you honestly, sir?" He said he acted foolishly and had never used drugs before, the arrest report said.
Hernandez sang the hooks on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" — both chart-toppers — and co-wrote and produced Cee-Lo Green's latest expletive-laden single.
His label, Elektra Records, released a brief statement Friday: "We congratulate Bruno Mars on his chart-topping success, and provide him with our full love and support."
Hernandez's debut album, "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," is scheduled for release Tuesday.

CHIDINMA ELIKE WINS MTN PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA SEASON 3
The last six contestants – Kesse, Ochuko, Eyo, Tolu, Yetunde and Chidinma lined up after their performances for the night, waiting for the breaking news. The comperes, Benjamin and Adora delayed the announcement as usual, raising the fright even more. Their eyebrows were blinking per second. They breathed in and out almost every minute – the tension is heightened.
The studio was quiet for few minutes as the validated voting result, enclosed in an envelope was handed over to the hosts. Even the Joke Silva led faculty crew looked tensed. Eventually, Chidinma Ekile who drastically improved in the cause of the show was pronounced the 2010 Project Fame star as she was presented the cheque of N2.5m and keys to a brand new Toyota RAV4. She’s also entitled to a recording contract.
It’s the first time a lady is winning the contest. And Chidinma’s win makes it the third time a Nigerian is coming tops.
Gifted Ghanaian singer Kesse Frimpong was named 1st runner up winning- N1.5m and a Toyota Corolla while Eyo Eminue made the 2nd runner up position and went home with N1m and a Toyota Yaris.
Fan-favourite Yetunde (a.k.a. Omo Ibadan) was named third runner-up.
The other two contestants, Tolu Adeshina and Ochuko Ogbu-Sifo didn’t completely lose out of the competition as the top six contestants are expected to release a group song, produced by one of Nigeria’s leading producers; a well as a video.
Ultima boss Femi Ayeni tells us the Academy is committed to pushing and supporting all six finalists…
Iyanya was the winner of the debut edition MTN Project Fame (season 1) in 2008. Shortly after his historic win he released a single and eventually an album which ushered him into the hall of fame of Nigerian musicians.
Mike Anyasodo emerged the second winner of season 2 in 2009. With his debut album in the pipeline, he has released several singles including the recent ‘Fine Fine Lady’ which is receiving massive airplay on TV and Radio stations in the country.
ASA RELEASES HER SECOND ALBUM IN OCTOBER.

MYKEY O - THE NEXT NEW HIP HOP ACT IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.
MYKEY O
My full name is Michael Olurotimi Olu – Alabi. I was born on the 9th of January. I graduated from kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology where I studied Architecture.
I have always been a fan of music right from the tender age of 4. I remember I use to love Michael Jackson so I would say he is my first inspiration. As I grew yp, I started to listen to rap music the likes of Dr Dre, Bone thugs, n harmony and Snoop dogg. This caught my attention and continued to inspire me as I hit my teenage years.
Writing music for me started with writing poems for girls, then I started writing my own raps and freestyling it was all for fun at first until I developed a superior lyrical skill. Further on, improved to the UK to college for three years It was there I would find myself in freestyling battles, performing in clubs and my former school. I used to be in a group called Robin Hood Gang (R.H.G) till I decided to leave for greener pastures in Nigeria. I felt I had to emerge as an artiste representing my country.
I have two songs I’m promoting presently in Nigeria; Hustle till I Hammer and Fly guy produced by Wole Oni and Sheyman respectively (hip hop). I am currently working on my first video for my debut album; I am a hip hop artiste and also a producer. I am currently signed to my own record label Maestro Music Entertainment.
In the future I see myself going international I hope to work with jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Lil wayne and more.

Then last week, Kevin released the first set of singles from his new album and alas one of the tracks is a Swahili track called “Una Pata Mambo“ and it features Lizzy and Stitched. P SQUARE OFFICIAL GLO BRANDING
By now you have probably heard about P-Square’s multi-million Naira Globacom deal. After months of speculation, the talented duo were officially announced as Glo Ambassadors last week. During the ceremony, Peter and Paul were presented with their official Glo ‘jerseys’ and introduced to the rest of the Glo family which includes other Glo ambassadors who had their contracts renewed on the same day.
The event was another opportunity for the crop of Globacom ambassadors to reaffirm their commitment to the company for endorsing them and for taking such a commendable step to lift Nigeria’s entertainment industry to a higher pedestal.
P-Square, the newest addition to the list of Glo ambassadors, described the endorsement as a welcome recognition of the group’s contribution to the entertainment industry in Nigeria and indeed Africa, adding that this would spur the duo to greater achievements in the music industry.
Globacom’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr Mohamed Jameel, said that the engagement of P-Square as brand ambassador and the renewal of the contract for others showed Globacom’s willingness to always recognise the vast, shining talents that abound in the country.
“P-Square remains a well focused and popular music group and the youths of this country and this continent find the group worthy of emulation. The choice of P-Square to join our brand ambassadors was therefore not misplaced. We have carefully selected our crop of brand ambassadors and we believe they represent the very best in their chosen professions,” he disclosed.
“We have been actively projecting enterprising Nigerians who have excelled in their fields of endeavour. We are of the firm belief that their faces would help fire the aspirations and dreams of many youths to reach for their goals and rule their world”, Mr Jameel added.
He also said that the feedback from the public largely influenced the renewal of the contracts of the ambassadors as there has been wide acceptance and recognition for the step taken by Globacom to lift the status of Nigerian stars.
Stars whose contracts were renewed at the event included Rita Dominic, Ramsey Nouah, Desmond Elliot, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezuruonye, Nuhu Aliyu, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and Ini Edo-Phillip Ehiagwina. Others were Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda, Funke Akindele, Nonso Diobi, Sanni Denja and Mohammed Yakubu.

ULTIMA STUDIOS GOT BURNT ON SUNDAY..
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for the shock that awaited them at some minutes after nine in the evening on Sunday 22 August. According to an eye witness, they had finished shooting the second season of the ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ Game Show in one of the two studious and had taken their leave only to be called via their phones that there was a fire outbreak at the Ultima Studios where both shows are being taped. He went on to say that the manager, Adebanki Adetunji, had gone to have his meal when he heard the news. He returned to find a fire that razed down the whole building and equipment worth millions of naira.
At the studio in Omole area of Lagos State, there were staff and sympathizers looking pensive, fire extinguisher strewn on the floor, and a notice at the entrance of their next door neighbor, WEMA Bank, announcing to customers that business couldn’t hold today due to the incident, directing them to their sister branches.
Ben Ogbowei, music teacher of the contestants on Project Fame, was at the venue, but refused to give comments. He directed this reporter to a number of staff who also declined comment. Finally someone indicated that only the manager has authority to speak about the incident.
The manager however refused to comment, asking the journalists to wait for a media representative who was in traffic and on his way. Unfortunately, even the media spokesperson wouldn’t say anything, only indicating that the press should expect their press release after “consultation with some of our stakeholders” – it all showed the understandable level of confusion following the incident.
Commenting on the matter however, Inyanya, the first winner of Project Fame West Africa from the same studios, who is himself mourning over the loss of his mother and is out of Lagos, said he got to know about the incident via a call from a friend and that he was indeed truly sad about it.
Joseph Benjamin, one of the show’s presenters, who was in total shock after he got an instant message about the incident on his Blackberry when was on set shooting somewhere in Lagos. “I thought it was a joke,” he told us. “Everyone that knows me who heard the news was just calling me, I heard a huge crowd was there … at that point I got there at after eleven in the night, I was totally devastated on what I saw …’
Asked if it would stall the show, he said no, noting that the show will go on, with a change of venue. Indeed, some crew members could be found trying to salvage what they could from the building for filming somewhere else.
According to Biodun Caston-Dada, the publisher of Acada, “The fire which was said to have started around 8pm on Sunday night from an electrical sparks in one of the studios burnt down the whole building and all the company’s equipments which ran into several millions of Naira
