One of Nigeria’s biggest musical tours is here again. Yes, it’s the annual Star Trek musical tour that cuts across the country, parading some of the finest Nigerian artistes as they thrill the crowd with laudable performances.
The countdown has begun as Nigerian Breweries Plc, manufacturers of Star Lager beer, announced the lineup of activities for the 2011 edition of Star Trek.
A press conference was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2011 and was attended by officials from Nigerian Breweries Plc, key players in the music industry as well as some of the top musicians the country has to offer such as Banky W, P Square, Naeto C, eLDee da Don, Ruggedman, Sound Sultan as well as Durella, Jaywon, The Pulse, MC Loph amongst others.

Marketing Director, NB Plc Mr. Jacco Van Der Linden described the musical concert as one of the three major shows put together by Star, referencing the other two, which are the recently concluded Star Quest musical talent hunt and the forthcoming Star Mega Jam.

If you frequently need to push out content updates to your customers, I’d recommend maintaining an active blog and then syncing it up with your Facebook and Twitter accounts. There are many multi-faceted tools such as ping.fm which allow you to sync multiple social networks together so you need not put in manual efforts to update your presence on these individually.

Customization
I’ve come across a number of businesses which believe customization and white labeling their presence on social networks is a huge challenge. They want their Facebook pages and Twitter profile to look exactly similar to their website in order to maintain a consistent look and feel. In that sense, Facebook is perhaps’ your best bet as it offers a lot of flexibility in designing your business pages.


The more, the merrier?
It’s more about quality than quantity when it comes to using social networks for your business. However, I do not mean that you should restrict yourself to a solitary social network. It’s important to have a social media strategy in place which will allow to you leverage the best of each social network.
My advice is – start with a single social network that seems best-suited for your needs and then expand your presence to other networks in due course of time.

Big Brother Amplified: Farewell, Lotus!

And so long the red panga. Oh cry the beloved Tails house.
In an unceremonious turn of events on Friday, Tanzania’s Lotus was disqualified from Big Brother Amplified. As much as it was a SLAP in the face for some  Namibians that our Jossy Joss was the first housemate to be evicted from BBA Amplified, I’m sure it’s an even bigger SLAP for Tanzania, and all Lotus enthusiasts to learn that their Lotus was disqualified so soon in the game.
And the man at the centre of this mess is none other than resident drama queen Luclay – oh, and of course his South African currency. If Luclay is not hurling insults at Biggie, then he’s busy directing those insults at his housemates. This boy really needs to be SLAPPED!

Slap Me!
Just last week, Lotus asked Big Brother to supply some condoms for the house. Surely this was a sign of a woman getting comfortable with her set-up. As you may have guessed, she and Ethiopian Danny were starting to get cosy!
Fast forward to Friday and Lotus was packing her bags and bidding the BBA experience goodbye.
I will say it again, “Luclay needs to be SLAPPED!”
Anyhow, while most of us were wishing for time to fly on Friday so that the weekend could start already, developments in the BBA Tails house were going in the opposite direction. It all started with the Head of House Task quiz testing housemates on their knowledge of world currencies. Housemates had to fill in as many currencies of the world as they knew.

Mercy Johnson picks Weding Date

After months of speculations, Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson yesterday revealed that she will be walking down the aisle in August. In an interview published on the lifestyle website, Bellanaija.com, Johnson revealed that she will be marrying Odianose Okojie, a prince from Esanland, Edo State, in a four-day long event.

“Yes, I am getting married, officially, from the horse’s mouth - on the 27th of August 2011. It’s a four-day event: the court wedding on the 25th, the traditional on the 26th, the white wedding on the 27th, and the thanksgiving on the 28th,” the ‘Corporate Maid’ actor revealed.

She also revealed that the wedding reception will be anchored by ace comedian AY, and her bridesmaids will include Kennis Music singer, Goldie; fellow Nollywood acts Chike Ike, Queen Nwokoye and Empress Njamah; and singers Kefee and Waje.

Talking about network in Nigeria, we have different network people use every day from Airtel, Etisalat, Mtn and Glo and the purpose, they are meant to serve we the users and always provide good and smooth network connection for us but in this case its quite different. People complain and argue about the best network they’ve ever used.  They also argue about their different services which each network gives “awuf” credit and free Sms monthly.

My plight in this case is the direct opposite of what they network services are meant to be serving us here in Nigeria. Let me start with calling a friend who uses the same network with you , well before you can reach the person you need to ‘try again’ and that language is not new to we mobile users. Now in the case of sending 5naira , 10naira Sms to your loved ones it probably take like 20 minutes before it get to the sender and we are still not surprised cos’ we all complain it ‘network failure’ not forgetting that all network are now on the per billing second call and its 20  kobo per second or 25 kobo per second depending on the network. Well I’m still not surprised is it not Naija?
