CEO/MD GTB Tayo Aderinokun is dead

Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer,  GTBank, Mr. Tayo Aderinokun is dead.  He passed away in a London  hospital , Tuesday afternoon, after a protracted illness.


A statement from the bank announcing his death said, "With a deep sense of loss, but with gratitude to the Almighty God, we write to notify you of the passing on to eternal glory of our dearly beloved Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tayo Aderinokun who had been on Medical Leave, passed on this afternoon, Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in the United Kingdom.

Aderinokun co-founded Guaranty Trust Bank Plc  in 1990 and served as Deputy Managing Director from inception until August 2002 when he took over as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

He holds a first degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos and an MBA with special concentration on International Business from the Graduate School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles.

He started his professional career at the Central Bank of Nigeria in Calabar, where he did his National Youth Service (1977-1978).

He worked with Chase Merchant Bank Nigeria Ltd (later renamed Continental Merchant Bank) from 1981 to 1988. He was at Prime Merchant Bank Ltd (1988 and 1989) as an Assistant General Manager rising to the position of Head of the financial services division of the Bank. In 1989, he set up a non-bank financial institution, First Marina Trust Ltd., which he ran for a year  before co-founding Guaranty Trust Bank.

He was a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN) and held a national award – Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

2011 Yoruba Youth Corporation National Youth Convention

Greetings from the Yoruba Youth Corporation! We are proud to announce once again that the Yoruba Youth Corporation (YYC) in collaboration with other Nigerian socio-cultural organizations in North America that includes the Nigerian Frontier of America (RI) and the Nigerian Community Rhode Island will be hosting its annual National Youth Convention celebrating Nigerian culture and traditions. The theme for this year is “Awakening the spirit of patriotism and selfless service among the Youths.” The convention will be held from July 21st-23rd, 2011 at 175 Oaklawn Ave Cranston, Rhode Island, U.S.A . We have chosen this theme, as this is a particular time of change and transition in Nigeria. Not only is the country growing economically--we are now the second largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa. As an organization, we  feel it is important that the youth take part in this process, hence we have chosen to bring together like minded Nigerian youths, to discuss and find ways to be involved in the process, both individually and as an organization. We hope to educate our youths all over the world about the significance of our rich heritage.

The Yoruba Youth Corporation (YYC) is an organization for young people whose aim is to promote the Yoruba heritage by creating an environment for peer to peer interaction.  YYC wants to inspire our members to lead a successful, fruitful, and culturally awakened life through mentoring, tutoring, and scholarship. We would also like to introduce YORUBA LANGUAGE and culture into junior colleges.

Although we are a relatively young organization, we have a membership that spans the United States, Canada and other countries. We currently stand at approximately 1850 members worldwide, with about 200 based locally in Michigan. We communicate with non-local members via the popular social networking site Facebook. The Attention of  our Star Actress Empress Njammah has been called to the devilious and wicked Photoshop pictures  of her being circulated on the internet and on various Bbm messages being posted in the last few weeks. Ordinary,  she  would have ignored these stupid pictures but sometimes silence they say means consent. In the last weeks has buried herself in work and has been busy with some big projects which has made her missing from most social events and circulation because of her determination to make 2011 the most productive year of her career so far.

This is to assure her numerous concerned friends, fans and family that the picture is not hers, a look at the devilious picture shows a tripod, light stand and if you look well you will see that the only part of the picture that is blunt are what is suppose to be her face, if you ask those who have seen my body they will tell you she do not have a single tattoo but just a birthmark .We leave whoever is not busy and has been sending these pictures around to their conscience where she concentrate on building her career and business which is doing well now. Empress view this as distraction and she will not respond further to these because her energy is for bigger and more productive issues and therefore unless a prove is brought that this is her last take on these disgusting picture.
