So on Sunday March 18, 2012 at The Haven in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, the annual White Gig will not only play host to achievers from all walks of life, but also kick off a series of events marking 15 years of excitement, adventure, achievements, hard work and God's grace.
Apart from the White gig, Bakare says other gigs on the card include The Green and White Groove, The Black and White Ball and an end of the year party. We're told a special publication to commemorate the anniversary is also in the works.
Since its debut in 2007 The White Gig has become one of the most anticipated events in Nigeria's social calendar. With celebrities and friends clad in gorgeous all white ensembles, the atmosphere is blindingly different, and of course there is enough to eat and drink "

Encomium's White gig has hosted many stars over the years, including Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Funke Akindele, Genevieve Nnaji, Omowunmi Akinnifesi, Julius Agwu, T.W.O, Princess, Sunny Neji, Dayo Adeneye and Keke Ogungbe
Others include Alariwo, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Stephanie Okereke, Zizi Cardow, Segun Arinze and Nikki Laoye.

"Take the steps, walk the Talk", the 6-hour event will kick off with an elaborate red carpet reception. The iconic DJ Jimmy JATT will guide guests through soft, smooth and at times wild music; and guests will have an opportunity to dance and prance from 4PM to 10PM.
In its fifth year, the White Gig started when Encomium marked her 10
th Anniversary in 2007.

The first tribute on the show was given by Linda with 'Try it on my own'
which was good but not fabulous according to the judges. For Sly 1 whose
rendition of 'Saving all my love' earned him the nickname Fox for his
stylish manoeuvres? Chinedu performed the soundtrack 'When you believe'
which the judges did not believe was convincing. Diwari turned the heat on
with 'Where do broken hearts go' and went on to impress the judges
especially Jeffrey Daniel. Najite, who gave an emotional performance the
week earlier, did not quite impress this time around with the hit 'I have
nothing but love'.
Stephen Onochie of the husky voice did Whitney's 80's hit, ' I wanna dance
with somebody' thrilling the judges and the audience with his moves. Mercy
did justice to Whitney Houston's last hit 'I look to you' with emotion
that shook the judges and the audience. Honey came up next with a
rendition of 'Count on me' which was not rated as his best performance on
the show. Nikki performed what the judges rated as her best performance so
far as she sang 'Didn't we almost have it all'. Joe Blue brought the
contestants performances to a booming end with his powerful performance of
'One moment in time'.
Judge Yinka Davies, host Tiwa Savage and music director Kehinde Dacosta
teamed up to bring the show to a final end with Whitney's 'Greatest Love
of All'.
In April, a new winner will be announced at a grand gala show carting home
a prize worth $100,000 and an SUV. The winner will join season 1 winner
Yeka Onka as one of the globally renowned Idol alumni across the globe.

Lagos| Nigeria It's official! - Grammy award winning American musician Robert Barisford Brown (Bobby Brown) is coming to Nigeria for the first time ever. And he's making the trip with his pop group New Edition!
The R&B Singer, Song writer and dancer confirmed his appearance for the high budget concert organized by R28 events in an audio statement released on Monday from his base in America. The concert is scheduled for Friday March 9 in Lagos and Sunday March 11, in Port Harcourt.
In the audio message, Bobby Brown confirms he'd be in Nigeria in March
"We'll be rocking the stage live in Nigeria live on March 9 and 11. Don't you dare miss it."This is the first time New Edition will be performing in Nigeria, a city where they have millions of fans and followers.
According to their management, the former group members will travel to Nigeria with a crew of 50 band members and associates.
And as fans, the music industry and R&B lovers gear up for the event that has been tagged "The show of the year", the organizers have confirmed that 2face, Banky W, Duncan Mighty are getting set to perform alongside the visiting group.
Other co-headliners include Omawumi, eLDee, Burna Boy and Modenine.

Bobby Brown considers performing as therapy to get him through a difficult time. He wrote to us last week that he'd like to do this concert in memory of Whitney, and we said fine".The Lagos and Port Harcourt concerts will be dedicated to Bobby's ex-wife Whitney Houston who passed on February 11. 2012.
Brown was openly emotional at a show in Mississippi on Saturday February 11, 2012 following news of Houston's death, then pulled out of a New Edition performance in Nashville on Sunday February 12, 2012 and flew to Los Angeles to be with his daughter.
New Edition is made up of Ronnie Devoe, Ricky Bell, Mike Bevins, Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown.
