Gospel Artiste Segun Obe just launched the album 'Still Standing'  in U.S. The Album 'Still Standing' contains 8 tracks which include singles he has released over the 18 years span of his musical career. Producers who worked on the project include Wole Oni, Cobams Asuquo and  Phillip George (US). It was launched with a concert tagged "An evening with Segun Obe' and was well attended by fans and friends.

He is currently on the road promoting the CD and will do a launch in Nigeria sometime in August. Derrick Ashong is the Ghanaian-born leader of music band, Soulfege who you probably even know from his days as host of popular show, The Stream on the even more popular Al-Jazeera TV Network, or from his acting in the hit flick, Armistad.

Studying at Harvard, how was the experience? How has it caused you to evolve?

I had a great experience at Harvard.  I met some of my best friends there including Jonathan, with whom I started Soulfège.  One of the biggest impacts it had, was helping me understand that I could work and compete with the best of the best if I put in the time and effort to develop my own skills.  That lesson has helped me in virtually every aspect of my life.

You've worked with Steven Spielberg in Armistad, you've been host of Al-Jazeera's The Stream and you're leader of Soulfège. How do you manage to combine all that you are?

In a way it's not as hard as it sounds.  People have a tendency to put each other in "boxes." For example, you're a scientist so you must not be very artistic.  But the reality is people are much more complex and multifaceted.  An astrophysicist may also be an avid concert pianist.  A romance novelist may also love mountain-climbing.  My primary passion is finding

 A man named Patrick White has filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z claiming that Hov ripped off portions of his personal writing when the rapper penned ‘Decoded’ back in 2010. According to the suit filed by White, and obtained by AllHipHop, the co-creator isn’t the originator of a number of phrases used in the memoir.

Less than a month ago, (on the 29th of May) since President Goodluck Jonathan changed the name of the University of Lagos popularly known as UNILAG to Moshood Abiola University of Lagos [Maulag], there has been series of protests from students saying a brand name like "unilag" does not co-note a celebration of democracy.

Here's a beautiful song from three creative Unilag students making good use of their talents as support that the President should leave the name "UNILAG" unchanged.

This song was recorded over a year ago but I do not think it is more relevant to our nation than now. I personally lost 2 close friends and several known people in the Dana aircraft that crashed in Lagos on Sunday the 3rd of June

On Sunday June 3rd, some 153 very important people left us, a 153 that linked the whole of the country together, we did not know how closely linked to one another we were until these 153 people let us. To the departed, we need to let you know we love you dearly and we will miss you all. No matter how we try, a lot of things can never be the same again without you.

The best way to go on from here is to encourage ourselves that our friends live on and they actually do. Let us make sure that all the dreams and aspirations we shared together live on. They might not be here with us physically but let them live on in our hearts. We need to see that their hopes and desires do not die, let us work it out like we will give an account to them when we see

The best is yet to come if you lost a friend that left behind children, make sure you see to it that those kids do well… that is the best that we hope for!!

I have been to too many funerals and service of songs and you will agree with me that all the gloomy and sad looking faces will transform to ‘normal’ once we step out of the funeral environment! Life continues…

For all of us, we definitely will miss our friends and loved ones but I need us all to know that the best days are still ahead.

As long as we have the breath of God in us we will yet get the best from life. We will not lose hope, we will not cast off restraint, we will not give up.
