Big Brother Africa has provided great voyeuristic entertainment over the last few years but has the show created a perfect love match?
A few weeks ago we spotted a photo of Big Brother Africa Revolution winner – Kevin Chuwang Pam with fellow BBA Revolution housemate Tanzanian TV Presenter/Actress Elizabeth “Lizzy” Gupta at a party in Abuja. Then last week, Kevin released the first set of singles from his new album and alas one of the tracks is a Swahili track called “Una Pata Mambo“ and it features Lizzy and Stitched. At that point, we knew something was definitely up!
Earlier today, this posting popped up on a Big Brother Africa forum accompanied by a photo of Kevin and Lizzy kissing.
By now you have probably heard about P-Square’s multi-million Naira Globacom deal. After months of speculation, the talented duo were officially announced as Glo Ambassadors last week. During the ceremony, Peter and Paul were presented with their official Glo ‘jerseys’ and introduced to the rest of the Glo family which includes other Glo ambassadors who had their contracts renewed on the same day.
The event was another opportunity for the crop of Globacom ambassadors to reaffirm their commitment to the company for endorsing them and for taking such a commendable step to lift Nigeria’s entertainment industry to a higher pedestal.
P-Square, the newest addition to the list of Glo ambassadors, described the endorsement as a welcome recognition of the group’s contribution to the entertainment industry in Nigeria and indeed Africa, adding that this would spur the duo to greater achievements in the music industry.
Globacom’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr Mohamed Jameel, said that the engagement of P-Square as brand ambassador and the renewal of the contract for others showed Globacom’s willingness to always recognise the vast, shining talents that abound in the country.
“P-Square remains a well focused and popular music group and the youths of this country and this continent find the group worthy of emulation. The choice of P-Square to join our brand ambassadors was therefore not misplaced. We have carefully selected our crop of brand ambassadors and we believe they represent the very best in their chosen professions,” he disclosed.
“We have been actively projecting enterprising Nigerians who have excelled in their fields of endeavour. We are of the firm belief that their faces would help fire the aspirations and dreams of many youths to reach for their goals and rule their world”, Mr Jameel added.
He also said that the feedback from the public largely influenced the renewal of the contracts of the ambassadors as there has been wide acceptance and recognition for the step taken by Globacom to lift the status of Nigerian stars.
Stars whose contracts were renewed at the event included Rita Dominic, Ramsey Nouah, Desmond Elliot, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezuruonye, Nuhu Aliyu, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and Ini Edo-Phillip Ehiagwina. Others were Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda, Funke Akindele, Nonso Diobi, Sanni Denja and Mohammed Yakubu.
Also on the bill were Pasuma Wonder, Original Stereoman (Ekwe), Ego Ogbaro, Sammie Okposo and ace comedian, Basketmouth.
Congrats to P-Square and the rest of the ambassadors.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for the shock that awaited them at some minutes after nine in the evening on Sunday 22 August. According to an eye witness, they had finished shooting the second season of the ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ Game Show in one of the two studious and had taken their leave only to be called via their phones that there was a fire outbreak at the Ultima Studios where both shows are being taped. H
He went on to say that the manager, Adebanki Adetunji, had gone to have his meal when he heard the news. He returned to find a fire that razed down the whole building and equipment worth millions of naira.
At the studio in Omole area of Lagos State, there were staff and sympathizers looking pensive, fire extinguisher strewn on the floor, and a notice at the entrance of their next door neighbor, WEMA Bank, announcing to customers that business couldn’t hold today due to the incident, directing them to their sister branches.
Ben Ogbowei, music teacher of the contestants on Project Fame, was at the venue, but refused to give comments. He directed this reporter to a number of staff who also declined comment. Finally someone indicated that only the manager has authority to speak about the incident.
The manager however refused to comment, asking the journalists to wait for a media representative who was in traffic and on his way. Unfortunately, even the media spokesperson wouldn’t say anything, only indicating that the press should expect their press release after “consultation with some of our stakeholders” – it all showed the understandable level of confusion following the incident.
Commenting on the matter however, Inyanya, the first winner of Project Fame West Africa from the same studios, who is himself mourning over the loss of his mother and is out of Lagos, said he got to know about the incident via a call from a friend and that he was indeed truly sad about it.
Joseph Benjamin, one of the show’s presenters, who was in total shock after he got an instant message about the incident on his Blackberry when was on set shooting somewhere in Lagos. “I thought it was a joke,” he told us. “Everyone that knows me who heard the news was just calling me, I heard a huge crowd was there … at that point I got there at after eleven in the night, I was totally devastated on what I saw …’
Asked if it would stall the show, he said no, noting that the show will go on, with a change of venue. Indeed, some crew members could be found trying to salvage what they could from the building for filming somewhere else.
According to Biodun Caston-Dada, the publisher of Acada, “The fire which was said to have started around 8pm on Sunday night from an electrical sparks in one of the studios burnt down the whole building and all the company’s equipments which ran into several millions of Naira

Name ADEDA Omohwo Martin but better known throughout the music industry as D'CROW
2. How did you get into music?
It started during the A-levels when i used to be this VERY shy kinda guy and a classmate of mine had this book of Poems that used to get a lot of the ladies flocking around him and i thot to mysellf dat if i started writing mine i would get the same kinda reaction which was wat i did and the results were outstanding to say the least...got me my 1st girlfriend. After skool i kinda just graduated into writing songs bcos by then i was an Eminem fan so Rap music was just the next step for me.
3. What instruments do you play?
None at the moment though i'm still re-learning the keyboard (used to play when i was much younger)
4. What has it been like since you started?
Its been ups and downs here and there, Highs and lows you can say but through it all i'm still here and i released my first album March 15th which is saying something
5. Why exactly did you start Music?
Honestly at the time i decided to go into the music, there used to be a lotta of un-creative material that i used to hear from the radio and after properly assessing my talents i realised i could do a whole lot better than what i was hearing but you know as a matter of fact, that reason cannot hold water right now because of the level of improvement in the music scene currently.
6. So are you worried you won't be able to keep up?
Of course NOT because i believe in my ability and i know that it would still shine through regardless of the amount of competition and i also have an open mind for evolving to the next level cos for example i look at people like elDee who have been there for a long time and still find a way to make themselves relevant today which is my aim for D'crow
7. Lets talk about Knighthouse.
What is it about them?
8.You were one of the few people dat started out with them right?
Yes i was
9. So what happened that you left and how was the whole experience?
Well i joined Knighthouse when i met one of the members Rougewave (Saks) at a radio interview way back in i think 2003 give or take a couple months and he told me about a group of people who were basically music lovers like us and were interested in starting something, so i basically met them up one day and the rest they say is history. We started from a small room, going from studio to studio and finally to the current home "51".
10. So why did you leave if things seemed promising since they had finally gotten a stable place to work from?
I would just like to say that i was not the only one who left for reasons best know to each person but personally i realised that it was gonna be a while before the rappers in the group ( Rougewave, Othello and myself) got an opportunity to be able to make the music scene like we wanted to so i figured instead of just sitting and waiting for manna to fall from somewhere i could not see, i decided to move on and try to make it on my own.
11. Is that why you dissed them in your upcoming mixtape?
WHAT!!!!!I aint dissed nobody because we still fam and i basically grew up in the music thanks to each and every one of them so i have NO REGRETS which coincidentally is the name of my proposed follow up album to THE TRUTH.
12. Whats your relationship with Mo-cheddar
Its cool, she's a nice girl, one of the later people to join knighthouse and she's now the franchise celebrity.
"We are too legit to quit" Wunmi Obe told news men with a bold, assuring look early this week at an exclusive event to
announce the release of their quintet album.
And like she guarantees, the album "T.W.O Legit" stands as evidence. Produced by ID Cabasa, Puffy T, Abel Davey, Rymzo, Sean Keyz and Foster Zeeno, the LP takes us on a journey of dance tracks, thanksgiving songs and family friendly songs.
"The album was conceived during the time it was rumored that we had quit music for TV, we even recorded a song to that effect" Tunde Obe says.
"We are definitely in this for good, and as we keep saying, we are too
legit to quit", Wunmi adds.
A new video "T.W.O Legit" and sneak previews of the next video
"Believe in me" was also premiered earlier this week.
Tunde and Wunmi Obe started as lead singers in a campus band 'Turning point' in the 80's but got popular Nationwide with their popular weekly television slots on the Charley boy show and Zoom time.
In 2009, the Entertainment industry went agog with the news that the couple were returning to TV, one thing they were known for in the 90s, but they were quick to reassure fans they were not in any way considering quitting music. They quickly returned with "Zombie", a single that enjoyed massive airplay on radio and TV stations across the country.
The Obes stretched the limits in their last album; producing major hits like "Mogbomoya", "Adupe" and "Like A Fool" but the new album brings a lot more to the table. With songs like "Get This Party Started", "T.W.O Legit", "Forms" and already established songs like "Fine Bara" and "Zombie" fans will have a lot of humor-soaked messages to take away.
"It is nothing like you have seen before, it is the best album we have ever done, and we hope the fans will connect with the music" Tunde assured.
QUICK FACTS ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM - TWO LEGITS
The new album is available in Jewel boxes casing with full multimedia options, videos and extra lyrics booklets.
It will be selling for #1, 000 naira.
Plan is to give a non option skip album.
The album is going on sale without the Alaba route.
The only appearance in the album is Rhymzo (reggae artiste).
The world renowned Drake approached our very own Nigerian born, Mary Slessor saved twins P-square for a collaboration.
This was as a result of their highly successful 7 city U.S tour
This was what Peter Okoye had to say ...According to Peter, no word can describe the experience he had in the hands of the Americans.
“I am yet to find the right words to describe the success of the tour and the experience I
had in the hands of the American girls who wanted to rape me. But I am
happy that the show was highly successful which prompted American star singer, Drake to approach us for a collabo,” Peter says.
