Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean was recovering last night after being shot on the Haitian election trail.
The former Fugees star was treated for a gunshot wound on his right hand after an attack near the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince.
He was in an armoured car with hip-hop friends Busta Rhymes and Jimmy Rosemond when a gunman opened fire.
Wyclef, 41, had intended to run for president himself but authorities ruled him ineligible last August.
He is supporting fellow musician Michel Martelly, who was up against former first lady Mirlande Manigat in yesterday's presidential election.
Wyclef's brother, Samuel, confirmed he was shot but had no further details. He tweeted: "We have spoken to Wyclef, he is OK. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers."
Wyclef's spokeswoman added: "He is doing well." Yesterday's runoff vote is viewed as a key step toward rebuilding Haiti, following the January 2010 earthquake that killed 200,000 people.
