Grammy Award winner Bobby Brown and his former group members BELBIVDEVOE staged an unforgettable performance in Lagos and Port Harcourt last weekend.

The international stars co-headlined the concerts with Nigerian heavyweights Banky W, 2face Idibia, Waje, Omawumi, Duncan mighty and Burna Boy.

The event which attracted top corporate executives and music fans across all sectors delivered remarkable live performances supported by choreographed multimedia, lighting and fireworks. The electrifying sets were interspersed with dance sketches from the acclaimed DNMT as well as carefully selected mixes delivered by some of Nigeria’s best DJs.

Critically-acclaimed singers Waje and Omawumi gave a good account of themselves; with firm control of the backing band while engaging the audience in interesting call-and-response. With compelling and captivating vocals, the singers surprised concert-goers at the Expo hall of Eko Hotels and Suites when they stepped on
stage and belted out renditions of several high pitched songs to the delight of all present.

Modenine’s skill as Nigeria’s leading lyricist remains unquestionable and his performance on Friday and Sunday evening did much to reaffirm his position as one of Africa’s greatest rappers of all times. He delivered freestyle sets from his rich repertoire and even dedicated his performance to the late BIG whose death anniversary coincided with the March 9 concert.

R&B heavy weight Banky W got his turn in the spotlight when he performed songs from his W Experience album, Mr. Capable album and hits from the upcoming R&BW, creating a wonderful atmosphere that left many in the audience spell bound.

In Port Harcourt, it was a different ball game; the Port Harcourt audience was treated to an open ground concert at the Polo Ground, GRA. Show openers Duncan Mighty and Burna Boy got the crowd on their feet and cheering; starting off the night on a brilliant note. But if the crowd thought that was all the organizers had in store for them, they got super excited when 2face Idibia- the undisputed king of Nigerian pop hit the stage.

Burna Boy
At first Idibia reeled out a series of R&B tunes before progressing into a session of Pop numbers. Mixing his music with his characteristic humor, the pop icon kept the fans on their feet till 12 midnight.  With an excellent backing band, he called on his former band mate Faze to perform Plantashaun Boiz hits “Say you believe me” and “Don’t you know”.  In return, the ecstatic crowd showered them with applause and blessed him with a standing ovation. He ended his performance with “Enter the place” with long time collaborator Sound Sultan joining him on stage.

However, the highest point of the night was BBD and Bobby Brown’s performance!
SOUND SULTAN
The American artistes did not conceal their excitement when they arrived on stage with their 20-man band and immediately took to the microphone. Looking fit and fab, “the ageless BBD boys” took guests through a marvelous performance for nearly an hour after which Ronnie Devoe announced “We bring to you, the king of stage, Bobby Brown”
BBD
To confirm his billing as a naturally gifted and veteran performer, Bobby Brown took to the stage with unbelievable energy and ease. After an astounding first round performance, the phenomenal musician took time to say thank you to the Nigerian audience “This is one of the best concerts we have had, my brothers and I are really excited. We hope to come back soon with New Edition”

The permances were top-notch by all concerned. However the organisation at the Port Harcourt leg left a lot to be desired.
Starting 4 hours late on a Sunday night is just not professional.
Great show.BBD and B-Brown did well but Tuface tore the house down.
