Are We Safe? Singer Waje Launch Her NGO 'Waje Safe House'
The Waje Safe House is an initiative of Waje that is aimed at supporting NGO’s and causes that
need help to achieve their goals and targets” the singer posted on her Facebook wall and this
seems a good way to drive cogent meaning to the acronym of her stage name ‘Waje’ which means ‘Words Aren’t Just Enough’
Aituaje Iruobe, who is mostly known as WAJE, has become a smoking gun on the music since she hit stardom with her bit part in P-Square’s ‘Do Me’ with her soulful voice and ringing octaves but as other stars celebrated the 52nd independence day of Nigeria, the beautiful singer was lending out her heart to the less-
privileged as she launched her NGO known as Waje Safe House.
The singer said the idea to reach out to some needy people in the society began to germinate when she visited a children’s school at the slum quarters of Makoko in Lagos, an area populated by mostly low income
earners.
“Faith without works is dead, we won’t just hope, we will continue to work our way through” Waje said of her intention “ The Project is one very dear to me. It concerns some of the poorest but most cheerful kids ever. Every quarter, Waje Safe House will partner with an NGO to raise funds and awareness for their
projects” she said.
Explaining further on what will be the mission of the NGO, Waje maintained that her NGO has no particular mission but said it will be a ‘Safe’ house for other NGOs and their projects with basic mission of raising funds for them to achieve their set goals. Already, she is said to be working with Doyinsola Ogunye’s outfit.
