It is no gain saying that people always want to recognize with the big brands. This was the case last weekend as celebrities trooped out for the Now Muzik organized Touch of Genius in honor a man whose hardwork and consistency has gained him international recognition. Adjudged one of the biggest exports after crude oil, 2face Idibia continually proves his worth.
The Touch of Genius: 2face Idibia Tribute honored 2face Idibia for his consistency and immense contribution at putting Nigerian music on the pedestal. This befitting honor to this A-list artiste whose body of work is unrivalled in the contemporary Nigerian music industry drew fans from all works of life and all genres of music.
The performing artiste who did renditions from off his previous works included Timi Dakolo, Tiwa Savage, W4, Mr. Kool, Kefee, Solid Star,young Kamsee, RockSteady, Meshack and Niyola. Others were Wura Samba, Yemi Alade, Sage, Jeremiah Gyang, and UK based Becca, TeeGee and Gidi Gorgeous.
The high points of the night was the UK based Zimbabwean currently managed by Now Muzik, Cynthia Mare’s performance with Tiwa Savage which was amazing. For Now Muzik to have gone through the trouble of getting Cynthia Mare all the way from the UK was unimaginable for 2face. He also couldn’t contain the surprise when Ras Kimono made an appearance on the stage, his performance with Genaral Pype was electric, one that got 2face erupting from his seat.
Other celebs in attendance were Sound Sultan, Baba Dee, Natz from Live Beat, Natzz- 2Faces’ former Manager, Ayo Animashaun, Achievas Entertainment, Yaw amongst several others. 2face’s Annie Macaulay and her adorable little girl were also there to give some morale support too.
The anchor for the day was the very eloquent Olisa Adebuwa, while Ohimai Atafo(a.k.a MAI Atafo) co-anchored alongside. Laolu Akins, who was like an endorsement from the old school, presented 2face with a plaque as the 2nd honoree of the TOUCH OF GENIUS award. Airtel, Guiness, City People, Beat FM, 1music, Lil‘B Show amongst others were not left out as they learnt there support to the successful hosting of the event.
It was a night of fun as 2face made a performance which was a fusion of music and comedy with Plantasaun Boiz Black Face. The after-party kicked off almost immediately, and this time, everyone let off their guard as they partied all night long.
