RUBIES INK'S PROJECT CAPABLE SIX MONTH INTER SECONDARY SCHOOLS SUMMIT (SEASON THREE) MAY-OCTOBER 2011 GETS ENDORSEMENT FROM THE LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS AND YOUTH ADVOCATES, JIMMY JATT, PRAISE FOWOWE, OC UKEJE ALL SET TO SPEAK AT THIS YEAR'S EDITION.
The much awaited all secondary school edutainment and mentoring programme have gotten a nod from Various celebrities and Youth Advocates such as Praise Fowowe, Steve Harris, Tolu Sangosanya (Winner Future Awards Best use of advocacy category), Oc Ukeje,DJ Jimmy Jatt, amongst other top celebrities who have also endorsed the special mentoring and empowerment programme. Project Capable was created to stem the tide of social and moral decadence amongst young people of secondary school age, a special mentoring, motivational and “Edutainment” forum that brings together youth advocates, educationist and carefully selected celebrities; where they are adopted as mentors and facilitators to inspire motivate and educate several young Nigerians who look up to them as their idol.The maiden edition was held in 2009 at the Indoor sports hall of the National Stadium and over three thousand students (3000) representing hundred secondary school across Lagos benefited from the event, it was closely followed by a six months inter secondary school summit, while the second edition was held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in 2010 with well over three thousand students in attendant. This year Project Capable would commence with a five months inter-secondary school summit between "May and September" and will be rounded up with a grand finale show in October. Each month a school plays host to fifty schools within its education district and a minimum of ten students are expected per school, giving us a minimum attendant of five hundred students per month,topics such as: Patriotism, Peer Pressure, Sex Education,Leadership skills and book reading culture are addressed by the speakers while the students are asked to fill a Project capable feedback form at the end of each programme. Celebrities such as: jimmy jatt, uti nwachukwu, kate henshaw nuttal,ofunneka molokwu,Ashionye Racah have all spoken at the previous editions of Project Capable. According to the Team leader and Project coordinator, Esther Enitan Ijewere ;"Our Aim is "To directly influence the lives of teenagers by being part of their growth process and activities through out-of-class education and entertainment programmes and To make the role of celebrities and youth advocates more useful in their everyday contribution to the growth of the nation's teenager by sustaining them as behaviorial and attitudinal change agents of our society.We are equally increasing the number of schools that will benefit from one hundred to two hundred this year, the monthly summit and grand finale have been approved by the Lagos State Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youths and Social Development respectively.
